Virtual Team Internship
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) is accepting applications for social media virtual team internships for Fall 2011 and Winter 2012.
SMWC will use a web-conferencing classroom that supports a team environment and allows NPFs to communicate with their team.
In the internship, campus and distance education students work in teams to complete a social marketing internship with local not-for-profit organizations. Students partner with not-for-profit organizations and utilize the new technologies to conduct virtual meetings with fellow team members and their not-for-profit partners. Students first determine the needs of the agency; secondly, establish a social marketing strategy to address those needs; and thirdly, implement the strategy. The students work with their not-for-profit partners to improve their partner's social marketing through technologies such as Facebook, web pages, and Flickr. The students learn to work in professional teams, earn college credit, and learn effective applications of social marketing.
Not-for-profit organizations must first fill out an application to be considered. The applications are reviewed by a task force consisting of Business and CIS Faculty and the Internship Director. Not all applications will be accepted.
Application Deadline: January 15.
